Variables

Units are as displayed on the boards. Map values are daily: means for states and temperatures, totals for fluxes such as precipitation and runoff.

Forcing (downscaled weather)

Layer Unit Daily value Notes
Temperature °C mean 2 m air temperature
Precipitation mm total rain + snow, as water
Rainfall mm total liquid part
Snowfall cm total fresh-snow depth
Direct SW W/m² mean direct sunshine on the slope, terrain shading included
Diffuse SW W/m² mean diffuse sky radiation, scaled by sky view
Longwave W/m² mean incoming thermal radiation
Wind Speed m/s mean not gusts; 20–30 % low
Relative Humidity % mean
Pressure hPa mean surface pressure

Model (snowpack)

Layer Unit Daily value Notes
SWE mm mean 1 mm = 1 kg m⁻² of water
Snow Depth cm mean
Runoff mm total melt + rain leaving the snowpack or bare ground
Snowmelt mm total melt part of runoff
Albedo – mean 0–1
Surface Temp °C mean snow or ground surface
Soil Temp °C mean shallow soil (0.1–0.3 m)

Satellite

Layer Unit Notes
MODIS fSCA 0–1 MOD10A1F, cloud-gap-filled, per terrain unit
Model fSCA 0–1 model snow cover fraction
Model-DA fSCA 0–1 after data assimilation
Satellite image – Sentinel-2 true colour

Anomalies

<Layer> anomaly, in units of the usual range (IQR, here q95 − q05), from −3 to +3. Within ±0.5 is normal. Available for SWE, snow depth, runoff, albedo, surface and soil temperature, and all forcing layers. See Anomalies.

Ensemble

Layer Unit Notes
Snowfall / Precipitation / Temperature P10, P50, P90 as above hourly percentiles across members
Snow accum Nd P10/P50/P90 cm new snow over the next 1, 3, 5 or 10 days
Snowfall probability 0–1 share of members with snowfall
